Promising NY Giants rookie carted off field in latest injury curse for Brian Daboll
You've got to be kidding. This is what countless NY Giants fans must have been thinking when the news dropped that rookie running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. went down injured, untouched during the latest practice session. Things aren't looking good here for the fifth-rounder.
According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, the youngster suffered a serious-looking injury while working on kickoff return duties. He was down on the turf in a ton of discomfort. Tracy has been carted off and an aircast was placed on his leg. We don't want to speculate on the severity of the injury, but all signs are pointing to him missing significant time moving forward.
NY Giants RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. has been carted off the practice field
This is something you never want to see, especially for a youngster getting ready for his first year in the league. Tracy turned plenty of heads in the preseason opener against the Lions, showing his potential with the ball in his hands.
In the 14-3 win over Detroit, he carried the ball five times for 26 yards. Eric Gray stole the show with his two touchdowns, highlighted by his 48-yard scamper, but Tracy was expected to be in an RB2 battle with the 2023 draft pick this summer.
Now, though, everyone is going to be waiting for some positive news to come in on Tracy, but again, things aren't looking too good here. The beat reporters at the practice field are saying this was pretty bad from the jump, which was made clear with a cart being brought out and the training staff not wasting time in putting a cast on him.
The Giants have Devin Singletary, Gray and Dante 'Turbo' Miller as the other RBs who will be featured for this team. With Tracy down, however, Joe Schoen and Co. could look to bring in a veteran ahead of Week 1.
