Jabrill Peppers has become a staple in the Patriots defense, playing in 96 percent of snaps this season. The former New Jersey high school football star has been in the spotlight since he was a teenager, but right now, he's making headlines for the wrong reasons.

In case you missed it, Peppers was caught with a hot mic saying, "you're lucky we're ass." That comment came while he was embracing Saquon Barkley after the NY Giants were able to post a 10-7 win at MetLife. This week, Peppers was asked about his response and fans aren't loving this either:

Jabrill Peppers apologizes to Patriots after comments to Saquon Barkley

Peppers was a key member of the Giants defense from 2019-2021, being part of the infamous Odell Beckham Jr trade. Peppers appeared in 32 games with the Giants, totaling 196 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, 17 pass breakups and two interceptions. He quickly became a fan favorite, as he was well known from the area. Now, though, people in East Rutherford are laughing at him a bit for what he had to say to Barkley, while folks all over Massachusetts are not happy.

After the loss to the Giants last weekend, the Patriots fell to 2-9 and clinched their second straight losing season. It hasn't been sunshine and rainbows in Foxborough since Tom Brady left, as players and fans are feeling the after effects.

Peppers apologized for his remarks, as he didn't know he was on a hot mic when talking to Barkley. He quickly stated that with the Patriots at 2-9 and with a top five draft pick, the standard for the Patriots isn't where it needs to be.

The veteran safety is under contract for the Patriots next year then will become a free agent at the age of 30 in 2025. After what he had to say after the loss to Big Blue, though, a lot of New England supporters are ready for him to leave after this campaign.
