Joe Schoen has priceless reaction when asked about Bill Parcells mentoring him
Joe Schoen is entering his third season with the New York Giants as general manager and he is now looking for much better results after a rough year in 2023. After making the postseason and winning a playoff game in his first campaign, Big Blue fell way short of expectations and finished the season with a disappointing record of 6-11.
Despite a dramatic exit of running back Saquon Barkley leaving New York for the Philadelphia Eagles, Schoen hopes this Giants team can return to the playoffs. With pressure now being felt on Schoen in particular this season, he still has this fond memory of learning from Giants legend Bill Parcells, which will hopefully help make a difference moving forward:
Joe Schoen was blown away by Giants legend Bill Parcell's mentorship
Schoen was on the Up and Adams show recently and when he was asked about the best story about working with a New York Giants legend, his answer could not have been more perfect. Big Blue's GM spoke about a moment he had with Parcells and it's one that he's never going to forget.
He talked about how when Parcells was mentoring him, it was quite simply a surreal moment for him. He spoke about how incredible it was to get advice from a Hall of Fame head coach and Super Bowl-winning coach as well. He also spoke about his roots and how cool it was that a guy who grew up in Elkhart, Ind. and played Division III football in college is talking to someone like Parcells. Wouldn't you be blown away if you were getting mentored by someone like Parcells too?
Schoen quite simply could not have been more grateful for Parcells's mentorship when he reminisced about the moment when the two spoke. He is hoping he can take the advice and mentorship he got from Parcells and translate that into results for this Giants team this year and beyond.
