Should NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen trade up for a quarterback, it has become quite clear who his No. 1 target is. That'd be North Carolina signal-caller Drake Maye, who is expected to hear his name called among the first three picks of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Will Maye end up with the New England Patriots, or will Schoen land his guy? According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Giants have been working the phones to try and move up and bring Maye to East Rutherford. That's the good news. The bad news? The Pats are yet to budge, but NY isn't ready to give up just yet:

Will the NY Giants be able to land Drake Maye in the first round of the NFL Draft?

The fact that Schoen is being aggressive to move up in the order is not a surprise. New England hasn't received the offer they've been looking for yet, but there's still plenty of time for Schoen and the Big Blue front office to make something happen.

For a while now, Maye has been considered one of the top quarterback prospects for his draft class. He was an absolute stud for the Tar Heels over the past two seasons. What makes a move to NY intriguing is the fact that he's a big-time fan of the Giants and head man Brian Daboll.

Leading up to the draft, Maye had nothing but good things to say about Daboll, highlighting what he's been able to do with quarterbacks in the past. Daboll played a massive role in helping Bills quarterback Josh Allen develop. Will Daboll be able to help out Maye in the same way?

In order for that to happen, Schoen is going to have to make New England happy with a blockbuster offer. As things stand, it feels like there's a 50-50 chance the Giants are able to land the No. 3 pick and go after Maye. The negotiations could go all the way to when NE is on the clock on Thursday night.
