5 most underappreciated NY Giants of all time
By James Nolan
1. QB Eli Manning
Eli Manning may not be underappreciated by all Giants fans, but there are some who believe he wasn't all that. In reality, he gave his franchise something every QB strives to do, Lombardi Trophies.
I get it. His career record as a starter isn't beautiful, but the organization didn't really build the best team around him during his last few seasons. For his career, Manning went 118-118, posting a .500 career record in the regular season.
The end of his Giants career wasn't pretty, and a lot had to do with the terrible offensive line. In 2018, he was sacked 47 times. Yet he still managed to complete 66 percent of his passes and throw for 4,299 yards. To say Eli was a system QB doesn't make much sense, as 2018 is a prime example.
Playoff time was Eli time. He finished with an 8-4 career record in the postseason, and the Giants legend is currently 21st all time in playoff passing yards. He won two Super Bowl titles with NY, with both of them coming against Tom Brady and the heavily-favored Patriots.
Manning may not have been the flashiest of players, but he found ways to get the job with the Giants time and time again. The end of his career with NY didn't go as planned, but no one can deny he was an incredible player. The man belongs in the Hall of Fame.
