New 2025 NFL Mock Draft gives NY Giants GM Joe Schoen exactly what he wants
Stop us if you've heard this before, but all signs are pointing to the NY Giants moving on from Daniel Jones following the 2024 campaign. Jones is hoping to silence all of his haters this season, with things getting started in Week 1 at MetLife against the Minnesota Vikings. Is an upset win powered by Danny Dimes on the way? We hope so.
However, looking at things long term, the assumption indeed is that the G-Men will be in the market for a new QB1 next offseason, with the NFL Draft looking to be where they find their guy. In a new NFL Mock Draft from The 33rd Team, Georgia signal-caller Carson Beck will be making his way to East Rutherford with the No. 1 overall pick. Is this something fans would be interested in?
Carson Beck continues to be linked to the Giants for the 2025 NFL Draft
"Assuming New York lands with the No. 1 overall pick, the bigger question will be which members of the football operations are still in-house to make this selection. Beck has the prototypical build and arm that most coaches will point to as a solid starting point. But it's the command of the game that Beck draws wide praise for, and that should move the needle the most for quarterback-hungry teams like the Giants."

Schoen is already quite familiar with Beck. For the Clemson-Georgia showdown, the Giants GM was on hand and saw the stud signal-caller put on a show. Schoen has also made countless headlines after he was caught telling Ryan Poles that it must be nice not having to scout quarterbacks. This was a bit of a rough look for Schoen, especially with Jones fighting for his Big Blue career.
At the end of the day, however, Schoen targeting other QBs is nothing new. During the 2024 NFL Draft, it was widely reported that the Giants were looking to trade up to No. 3 overall so they could select UNC's Drake Maye. Unfortunately for Schoen, he couldn't get things done with the Patriots and New England ended up landing Maye.
The Giants took Malik Nabers with the No. 6 overall pick, giving Jones a true WR1 to work with. If everything goes to plan, Nabers will post 1,000 yards, Jones will ball out and NY will get back to the postseason for the second time in three years. If the Giants struggle and Jones has another rough campaign, it will be time to find someone else to run the offense - and Beck could be next in line.
