Joe Schoen caught throwing Daniel Jones under the bus in inexcusable clip
He's simply got to know better than this. Right now, all eyes are on NY Giants veteran quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of the season-opener against the Vikings, but not a lot of people have faith in him. As it turns out, neither does his general manager?
Joe Schoen is going viral and not in a good way. In the latest episode of Hard Knocks featuring the Chicago Bears, the Giants GM was speaking with fellow GM Ryan Poles. In the episode, Schoen told Poles that it had to be nice not having to look at quarterbacks after he drafted Caleb Williams. A direct shot at Jones and the QB situation in East Rutherford? Absolutely:
Joe Schoen owes Daniel Jones an apology over his Giants QB comment
Schoen has to be joking. We understand that the Giants are expected to part ways with Jones following this campaign, but what kind of message is he sending to the rest of the team if he's basically trolling his starting signal-caller right before the Week 1 showdown vs. the Vikings?
This interaction came during the Georgia vs. Clemson showdown and Bulldogs signal-caller Carson Beck is already being linked as a potential future Giant. Schoen is of course going to be scouting several QBs throughout the college football campaign, that's a given. Still, he can't be bashing the guys still busting their tails off for him.
Following the 2022 season, Schoen rewarded Jones with a four-year, $160 million extension. The G-Men have an out after this campaign, which they'll probably take unless Danny Dimes plays out of this world with a new-look offensive line and No. 6 overall pick Malik Nabers getting ready to catch passes from him.
Jones is feeling quite confident these days, even saying that he's expecting the Giants to get to the postseason this winter. If Big Blue does make a return trip to the playoffs, Jones is going to have to bounce back in a major way from what went down for him in 2023.
We don't have to tell you that things were rough for him, as he only appeared in six contests due to a neck injury and then his torn ACL In those games, his play was brutal - he tossed for just two touchdowns and six interceptions. This led to fans calling for him to be benched before he suffered his serious knee injury.
Now that he's healthy, Jones wants to silence all of his haters and do everything possible to get this team back to where they need to be. The last thing he needs is his GM showing zero faith in his game and bashing him a little to others. This is a brutal look for Schoen and he needs to apologize to Jones as soon as possible.
