Everyone knows that the New York Giants have had offensive line woes for a while now, especially last season. After leading the NFL in sacks allowed by a wide margin in 2023 with 85, Joe Schoen has made improving the offensive line a priority this offseason.

Big Blue started things off by adding two key veterans in guard Jon Runyan Jr. to a three-year contract, and guard/tackle Jermaine Eleumunor to a two-year contract. News also broke that New York has signed veteran guard Greg Van Roten.

With third-year tackle Evan Neal starting training camp on the PUP list, this move makes sense. However, could this latest offensive line signing be the beginning of the end for Neal's time in the NFC East?

The Greg Van Roten signing is bad news for Evan Neal

Whether Neal will be healthy or not by the time the Giants take the field against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1 remains to be seen. However, the addition of Van Roten isn't great news for those of you out there who are still in Neal's corner. His two-year tenure in New York thus far has been filled with mounting injuries, inconsistency at the right tackle position, and even being booed by Giants fans in primetime.

With Van Roten now joining this Giants team, he figures to jump in at right guard, which would allow Runyan to move over to left guard, where he's more comfortable at. Obviously, this would then result in Eluemunor taking over for Neal at right tackle.

There has been a ton of movement for the Giants offensive line, which was beyond needed. Neal was hoping to take a step forward in Year 3, but a bum ankle has gotten in the way of him being able to practice. Now, it wouldn't be out of the question to assume he'll never start another game for the Giants and Brian Daboll again. Come 2025, he may be looking for a new home.
