After what he went through in 2023, it's not a shock at all that a lot of people are doubting NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of the new campaign. Jones is able to throw and workout this offseason, but he is yet to fully be cleared from his torn ACL.

With the schedule recently being released, not many see the G-Men competing for a division title or pushing for a Wild Card spot. Should that be the case, it will be the result of another rough campaign for Jones. NFL.com's Judy Battista sees an uphill climb for New York and she has serious doubts about Jones being able to get things done for Big Blue.

Will Daniel Jones be able to rebound this season for the NY Giants?

" If Daniel Jones is playing for his job this year -- and surely he is -- he has a very tough slate of opponents to prove himself against. The Giants are tied for sixth in strength of schedule, with games against the AFC North as part of the rotation. That means Jones and the offense have to keep pace with the likes of Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson. And the final game of the regular season is at Philadelphia. The Eagles have routinely been a nightmare for the Giants, winning eight of the last 11 meetings, including in the playoffs. "

After going 6-11 in '23, the Giants are in desperate need of a bounce-back fall and winter, but no one knows if that's going to be the case. The excitement over the additions of Brian Burns and Malik Nabers has been cooled a bit by the uncertainty at quarterback.

The expectation is that Jones will be the Week 1 starter assuming he's healthy, but there's been a ton of smoke in recent weeks that Drew Lock could end up winning the job once camp gets here. That'd be a major shocker, but not something that we can totally disregard.

Jones is going to hope to not only win the job, but keep it from start to finish this campaign. With speculation that the Giants will release him next offseason, Jones needs to have a huge year to save his job as QB1 of this team for the long haul. Countless analysts don't think he has a shot to do so, including Battista.
