The more the NFL Draft is discussed, the more NY Giants fans can't wait for late April to get here. Both Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen have said they're sticking with Daniel Jones as their quarterback, but come on, no one knows what might happen moving forward.
People can't stop talking either thanks to a new update from NFL insider Mike Garafolo. Garafolo said that Jones is making strides in his rehab from his torn ACL and that the Giants expect him ready for the start of the season. However, Garafolo and Ian Rapoport have made it quite clear the G-Men could trade up to land a star QB and they'll be a 'team to watch' to potentially make a blockbuster move:
Will the NY Giants trade up in the NFL Draft for a star QB?
Garafolo made it seem like there's a great chance Schoen will make countless headlines on draft night. As things stand, Schoen and the G-Men hold the No. 6 overall pick, a spot where they won't be in a position to land one of the Top 3 QBs in the class.
The expectation is that Caleb Williams, Drake Maye and Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels will all be off the board by the time the G-Men are on the clock. If that's the case and Schoen is convinced he needs to bring in a new QB of the future to town, then maybe we will see him get something done.
It won't come cheap, though, as reports have stated the Bears will be looking for a historic trade package for their No. 1 pick - that's assuming they decide to keep moving forward with Justin Fields under center. How badly could Schoen want a new quarterback in East Rutherford?
Jones played in only six games last season due to his neck injury/torn ACL, throwing two touchdowns and six interceptions. Even when healthy, he looked rough, but the play of the offensive line sure was embarrassing for him. Anything can happen leading up to the No. 1 overall pick being announced, but the Giants going after a Jones replacement is fully in the cards.
