We're getting down to the wire - the first round of the NFL Draft is almost here and people are waiting to see if the NY Giants and New England Patriots will be able to get some business done. Joe Schoen is working overtime to try and move up to the No. 3 overall pick.
If that happens, the expectation is that the G-Men won't waste any time and bring in Drake Maye with that selection. However, a lot needs to go down for the Maye dream to become a reality. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, the Giants No. 6 pick, their second-rounder and a first-round pick in 2025 could be enough to make the Pats happy.
The NY Giants are still trying to trade up to land Drake Maye
With the Giants holding other positional needs, losing their No. 47 overall pick for Friday would sting quite a bit. Losing their first-rounder for next year would be absolutely brutal too. However, is that price worth it to bring in who many believe could be a superstar QB?
People don't want to give up on Daniel Jones just yet, especially after he signed his $160 million extension a little over a year ago. However, Danny Dimes suffered a neck injury in 2023 and then he tore his ACL in Week 9 against the Raiders.
You simply can't ignore the fact that Jones has been injured quite a bit ever since he was taken with the No. 6 overall pick coming out of Duke. That's why plenty of fans are hoping Schoen can do whatever is needed to bring in Maye on Thursday night. In order for the Giants to move up to No. 3, Schoen will need to send NE his No. 6 pick, plus at least a second-rounder and next year's top pick. He may be hesitant to do so, but again, countless NY supporters want him to get this done.
