1. DE Cedric Jones

Following an incredible career at Texas, the Giants selected Cedric Jones fifth overall in the 1996 NFL Draft. At the time, the Giants had a young and upcoming defensive line that featured players like Michael Strahan and Keith Hamilton, so adding a top-tier college player like Jones to that core made sense.

Despite this, Jones sadly didn't pan out in the NFL. Whether it was due to a lack of skill or the fact that he was blind in one eye and was forced to play on the right side of the defensive line, Jones simply didn't pan out which is unfortunate. A universe in which Jones became the All-Pro pass rusher he should've been paired with Strahan and Hamilton would have been so much fun to watch.

It would take Jones two seasons to rack up his first sack, and while he did have a rather successful season in 1999, racking up 60 combined tackles, 7.5 sacks, and five forced fumbles, he would be let go following the Giants Super Bowl run in 2000 and wouldn't play another snap in the NFL.

While this pick may not have set the Giants back for decades considering that they made the Super Bowl just four years after the selection, it certainly didn't help them when they were blown out by the Ravens in embarrassing fashion in the big game.
