With the way the season has gone thus far for the NY Giants, it's safe to say that plenty of players have not lived up to the hype for this team. On defense, pass-rusher Brian Burns is getting a lot of negative attention, as he's not backing up his $141 million contract. Another star who has been letting people down has no question been cornerback Deonte Banks.

In back-to-back weeks, Banks hasn't looked sharp at all. He gave up two touchdowns to Cleveland's Amari Cooper and then CeeDee Lamb cooked him in the Thursday Night Football loss in Week 4. On Lamb's long touchdown, Banks not only blew it on the coverage, but he didn't really go all out to make a tackle. This is something Big Blue defensive backs coach Jerome Henderson won't tolerate moving forward:

As you can see in that clip above, Banks indeed couldn't stay tight with Lamb, but things were only made worse with his effort trying to prevent him from scoring. Banks didn't even try sprinting to make a tackle, instead jogging his way downfield and escorting Lamb into the end zone. That can't happen.

It's not a surprise at all that Henderson has called out the second-year cornerback like this. Banks has been a major letdown, but a lack of effort or hustle, especially in a primetime game against a division rival, is unacceptable.

Banks was brought in to be a lockdown corner for the Giants, but he's having too many problems trying to go up against opposing team's WR1. Both Cooper and Lamb have had no issues putting up big numbers against him. What can we expect from Banks against Seattle?

Hopefully something much better than what has been showcased over the past two games. If he doesn't snap out of this funk and give a 100 percent effort on each play, DK Metcalf could become the third wideout in as many weeks to make Banks look silly.
