With the way firings and resignations have gone in the past few days, teams are going to be working overtime to find replacements. Such is the case for the NY Giants, as head coach Brian Daboll is in search of new guys for his staff, including at defensive coordinator.
From the moment Wink Martindale resigned from his post, there's been buzz that the G-Men could have interest in former Bills DC Leslie Frazier. Well, there's going to be some stiff competition to land his services. According to Adam Schefter, Frazier is set to interview with the Chargers - but for their HC opening.
Leslie Frazier will interview with the Chargers for their head coach opening
Things just got a bit complicated for the G-Men if Frazier is near the top of their list. It'd be one thing if Frazier was going to interview to be LA's defensive coordinator, but the fact that they're going to potentially give him a chance to run his own show is a bit of a bummer for NY fans.
Why would Frazier come to East Rutherford to lead the Giants defense if he could possibly make the leap to head coach? With Martindale, he's said from the start that it's always been his dream to be a head coach himself, which a lot of people believe is why he and Daboll weren't on the same page this year.
Frazier took this past season off, but he's ready to get back in the game. The Chargers may not be the only head coach opportunity he gets to interview for. Luckily for Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen, there are surely other candidates they can take a look at, including team legend Antonio Pierce.
If Pierce and the Raiders decide to part ways, AP should be the first call Daboll makes after that news drops. Only time will tell what happens for the Giants here, but the latest update on Frazier doesn't give people a lot of optimism that Daboll has strong odds of bringing him in.
