NY Giants fans are ripping Daniel Jones for terrible INT to Stephon Gilmore
Everything that could possibly go wrong for the NY Giants has in the first half against the Dallas Cowboys. After an incredible first drive which should have ended with a field goal, things have gone downhill.
First, there was the blocked FG returned for a touchdown. Then there was the Daniel Jones pick-six, which he put right on the money for Saquon Barkley. To make things even worse, with the Giants down 19-0 and hoping to get something going offensively, Danny Dimes made a terrible decision trying to make some magic happen.
Right before he flew out of bounds, Jones got rid of the ball, but Dallas defensive back Stephon Gilmore was there for the interception. This is a throw that Jones should never make - and Dallas scored not too long after on a Tony Pollard run to go up 26-0.
Daniel Jones and the Giants are having a first half to forget vs. Dallas
Before the opening kickoff, there was so much promise and hope for this season. Jones had signed his $160 million extension and people were ready to see if he would put on the same kind of performance we saw from him against the Vikings in the playoffs. He's been the opposite of that and Big Blue supporters are furious:
As of this writing, the Cowboys are still up 26-0 and the Giants offense is still looking sluggish. Literally while writing this, Jones almost tossed another interception, with Malik Hooker somehow not coming down with the INT.
The offensive line isn't doing Jones any favors with their play, but Jones needs to make better decisions. It has been a first half to forget for him. After so much excitement on the first drive, nothing has gone right for NY since. This is beyond deflating for so many people.
