NY Giants predicted to sign incredibly unimpressive QB in 2025 free agency

This would not be the answer for Joe Schoen.

No one can argue that NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has looked sharper in recent games, including the road upset win over the Browns. However, it continues to look likely that the G-Men will part ways with him after this season and bring in a new signal-caller. For now, the expectation is that Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll will find a new QB1 in the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, with Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito out of contract, the Giants will also need to bring in a veteran - if Lock or DeVito aren't retained - to push the incoming rookie for the starting job/help bring him along. Bleacher Report has a signal-caller in mind for the Giants to sign and it's... Kyle Trask?

Kyle Trask linked with the Giants for 2025 is fully underwhelming

"In what's viewed as a make-or-break year, the season hasn't been going well for Daniel Jones. While New York will likely look to draft a quarterback, signing someone like Trask in free agency to at least compete for the starting job wouldn't be a bad idea. Just look at what the Vikings have done with Sam Darnold so far. Trask was battling to be the Buccaneers' starter ahead of last season but got beat out by Baker Mayfield. At the time, that seemed like an indictment on the Florida product, but Mayfield has played pretty well since winning the job to give the argument that Trask deserves a second shot at being a starter some validity."

Bleacher Report

No disrespect to Trask, but give us a break. He has spent three years in Tampa Bay and has 23 passing yards in three games to his name. This is not the kind of player you want to ink to be your No. 2 quarterback or potentially start the season-opener.

Depending on how things go the rest of the campaign, next offseason could be a make-or-break one for both Daboll and Schoen. After going 6-11 last year, people were calling for both to get fired. With the 0-2 start to the 2024 season, Daboll was even asked about his job security. What kind of message is going to be sent if Schoen and Daboll are retained and then Trask is signed?

Not a strong message at all. The Giants will need to go after someone with more experience. If anything, letting Tyrod Taylor walk is something the front office should have never allowed to happen. Like we said, next offseason is going to be massive for this team. If Jones indeed is on his way out, some splashes at QB will need to be made. Don't talk to us about Kyle Trask.
