2. Depth concerns for the offensive line

New York Giants backup center J.C. Hassenauer suffered a triceps injury and will undergo surgery. With him being placed on Injured Reserve, his season has suddenly come to a close. While Hassenauer was not likely to win the starting job over rookie lineman John Michael Schmitz, the injury still hurts the Giants' depth at center.

The injury provides added pressure for Schmitz to succeed. Though he was the top-rated center in this year's draft, the second-round pick out of Minnesota still needs to be more experienced at the professional level.

On Tuesday, news broke that Joe Schoen had signed former Cardinals lineman Sean Harlow. Harlow was a fourth-round selection by the Atlanta Falcons in 2017. He had a short stay with the Colts before a second stint with the Falcons in 2021, but spent the last two seasons in Arizona. It is unclear what kind of impact Harlow can bring to the Giants, but we can only hope he will provide the needed backup support.

Over the last few years, the offensive line has been a consistent problem for the G-Men. However, with the recent extension of left tackle Andrew Thomas and the improvements of right tackle Evan Neal, it was finally looking like the team was getting past those recurring issues. Let's hope the Giants' o-line can stay at full strength throughout this season.
