Yes, Brian Daboll is ready to look ahead to the Carolina Panthers game on Friday, but we've got to keep showing love to NY Giants No. 24 overall pick Deonte Banks. A lot of fans have been praising John Michael Schmitz after his performance vs. the Lions, but Banks was superb too.

In the first preseason game of his career, Banks was a lockdown DB. Against the Lions, Banks was targeted three times and didn't allow a single reception in 22 coverage snaps. Yeah, that's exactly what Daboll and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale were hoping to see from the first-year CB.

What makes Banks so fun to watch is that he plays with a ton of confidence and swag. He talks the talk and he was able to back things up against Detroit. Banks said he feels like he belongs on the biggest stage and we agree with him:

The future is bright for NY Giants cornerback Deonte Banks

It's one thing if you're playing cocky football, but it's extra special when you're able to deliver for your team. Banks is still a rookie and there's of course going to be some growing pains for him. That's going to be the case for every '23 draft pick.

However, Banks is not only playing at a high level, but he comes off as extremely coachable too. After the loss to the Lions, Coach Dabes shouted out him, Tre Hawkins III and Schmitz as guys who really stepped up for Big Blue.

It's hard hard to argue with that. All three guys looked sharp. With Banks, there's always going to be more eyes on him because he's a first-round pick. So far, he has been living up to the hype and fans have full belief in him to be a stud for this defense in 2023 and beyond.
