You're going to be reading a lot about NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones ahead of Week 1, so get used to it. Following the loss to Houston in preseason Week 2, it's an understatement to say that the majority of the fanbase has just about had it with No. 8.

On social media, plenty of people have been calling for general manager Joe Schoen to sign someone in free agency to push Jones out of a job, with Ryan Tannehill's name being floated around more than once. It's not going to happen.

Ahead of the joint practice with the Jets, assistant GM Brandon Brown stepped up to the podium and was asked about the G-Men being comfortable or not with how the QBs room is looking. Brown didn't waste any time in saying there are no plans to bring someone else to East Rutherford:

Assistant Giants GM Brandon Brown is quite happy with the QBs room

So, there you have it. Tannehill is easily the biggest name out there and he's going to make a difference for someone this fall - it's just not going to be the Giants. Tannehill, at this point of his career, is looking to be a QB2 and be solid insurance if a starter goes down.

That's what the Giants have in Drew Lock, who was signed to a $5 million contract this offseason. Tommy 'Cutlets' DeVito remains in New Jersey too, as he impressed at times in 2023 while playing in relief of both Jones and Tyrod Taylor.

Jones played rough throughout 2023 and his first quarter against the Texans was just brutal. Countless people have hit the panic button already for the 2024 campaign, but Brown, Schoen and Brian Daboll certainly have not.

Coach Dabes even said after the game that the plan was for Jones to be aggressive with his downfield throws. Yes, he was intercepted by Derek Stingley Jr. one on ball for Jalin Hyatt, but he and Darius Slayton did connect for a 44-yarder. We'll go ahead and forget about the pick-six for this article.

Brown, who is respected across the league, handled this question perfectly. It's easy for a lot of folks out there to throw Jones under the bus, but the Giants are going to stick by their $160 million quarterback until a tough potential benching decision needs to be made. Said decision surely won't arrive before Week 1 gets here.
