UPDATE: Since this article was posted, the Cowboys have placed Phillips on Injured Reserve with a wrist injury.

With the emergence of some young, underrated talent for the NY Giants over the summer, general manager Joe Schoen decided to part ways with veteran defensive tackle Jordan Phillips. For some, it was a bit of a head-scratcher, but Phillips simply wasn't impressing and the decision to trade him was easy.

What was unexpected, though, was that Schoen ended up working a deal with the Dallas Cowboys, one of the team's most-hated rivals. Now, Big Blue supporters can go ahead and smile at the fact that the Dallas risk has backfired in a big way, as Phillips has been less than stellar for his new team. Matter of fact, he's been rough to watch:

Veteran DT Jordan Phillips has been a major disappointment for the Cowboys

In the Week 2 loss to the Saints, which Dallas was dominated in, Phillips had a game to forget, consistently being tossed around. His play has been so bad, plenty of Cowboys fans have been calling for him to either see a decrease in snaps or get cut.

Luckily for Schoen and Co., this is absolutely nothing for them to worry about. Originally, the Giants traded Phillips and a seventh-round pick in exchange for a sixth-rounder, but there was a clause that needed to be met for things to get finalized. Said clause has been reached, with Phillips seeing extensive action in the first two weeks of the campaign.

Things at DT have been far from perfect for the Giants, as they gave up 215 yards on the ground in the loss to Washington and no one has stepped up working next to Dexter Lawrence. However, Phillips 100 percent wasn't going to be the answer and Schoen was wise to get an earlier pick back in return.

Following the loss to New Orleans, the Cowboys are 1-1 on the year, but heat is already coming in on Dak Prescott and others. The Giants are 0-2 and don't have much room to talk, but at least they can laugh at fully owning Dallas in this offseason trade. A Schoen masterclass? Sure, we'll give it to him.
