Here we go. After a long wait, football is about to be back at MetLife Stadium. On Thursday night, the NY Giants will be hosting the Detroit Lions for the first preseason game of the summer. While the starters won't be out there for long, this will still be an important showdown for plenty of guys looking to impress Brian Daboll.

It's still unknown (for now) if quarterback Daniel Jones will be playing or not. He wants to put the pads on, but it will be on Daboll to let him take the field or not. In this piece, we've got you covered with everything you need to know about the New York-Detroit showdown:

There are two Thursday night preseason games for fans to enjoy, as the Giants will be hosting the Lions and the Patriots will welcome the Panthers to town. Both games are scheduled to get started at 7 p.m. ET.

East Rutherford is (usually) beautiful this time of year. The Lions and Giants will be facing off at MetLife Stadium for this one. If you're making your way to the stadium, be sure to pack yourself an umbrella: the weather forecast is calling for temps in the low 70s, while showers are expected.

If you're going to be watching this preseason tilt from the comfort of your own home or from a mobile device, you've got options. The game will be televised on FOX. You can check out fubo.tv for streaming needs, while NFL+ (subscription required) will also be showing the meeting between the two NFC sides.

The Giants are 3.5-point home favorites going up against Dan Campbell and Co. In terms of the moneyline, NY, per FanDuel, has been set at -175, while the Lions are at +150. The over/under for Thursday's tilt is 34.5 points.

What to Watch for in Giants vs. Lions Game

To start, will there be some more fireworks between the two teams? During joint practices, it felt like no more than five minutes could pass by without a big fight breaking out. Both teams have since been fined $200,000 by the NFL.

As for the more important stuff, the Giants are going to hope for improved play from their offensive line this season. It's unknown which starters will be playing, but even if it's for limited snaps, people will be watching new linemen Jon Runyan Jr., Jermaine Eluemunor and Greg Van Roten closely. How will rookies Malik Nabers, Tyler Nubin, Theo Johnson and Dru Phillips look, should they all play? Hopefully quite well.
