Tommy DeVito disappointed yet again and was punished for it

The Tommy Cutlets story was fun to watch unfold, but after back-to-back stinkers against the Saints and Eagles, Tommy DeVito was benched in favor of the better and more experienced Tyrod Taylor. Now, with Taylor likely to start for the remainder of the season, it seems like the book on DeVito will be closed for the time being.

DeVito started this most recent game against the Eagles, but after completing just nine of his 16 pass attempts for 55 yards, he was benched entering the second half. Taylor has always been the better QB, but with the Giants winning three games in a row under DeVito, it was hard to take the starting job away from the Italian stallion.

In the last two weeks, DeVito has looked lost in the pocket, has failed to make easy throws, and has continued to struggle reading defenses. While Taylor may not be perfect, he is very clearly the better option as of now regardless of whether the Giants want to win games or not.

Real Giants fans will always remember DeVito's heroics, but he's simply looked bad these last two weeks and Brian Daboll made the right call in benching the 25-year-old QB. Maybe he'll prove us wrong in the future, but for now, New York can't trust DeVito at QB in the final two games.
