Inconsistency has been an issue for NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones throughout his career. This has been the case early on at training camp this summer too. On Day 3 of practice, Jones was a bit up and down, which can't be the case moving forward.

On one play, Jones delivered a dime to Malik Nabers for an incredible throw and catch. It was the kind of sequence that has fans ecstatic to see what the two can get done together. However, later on in the session, the bad version of Jones was displayed, as he totally missed a wide open Wan'Dale Robinson. Per Bobby Skinner, things were only made worse with no one being even close to the wideout:

Daniel Jones throwing the ball downfield is still a concern for Brian Daboll

It's hard to watch that clip above and not cringe a little. Jones was receiving some pressure up front, but there's simply no reason why he should have missed Robinson by that much. The issue here too is that getting the ball downfield has been a problem for Jones in recent seasons.

Last year, outside of the second half against the Cardinals, Danny Dimes couldn't get the offense into any kind of a rhythm. After he went down with his torn ACL, we saw Tyrod Taylor and Tommy DeVito have more success leading the O, which should never be the case.

That's why this year is so important for Jones. He simply has to show Joe Schoen that he should be the QB1 for the long haul. Any and all mistakes from previous campaigns need to stay in the past - Jones has to take a giant step forward.

One bad throw to Robinson isn't going to cost him his starting job, but it has a lot of fans uneasy. It's also given haters even more of a reason to say that Jones and the Giants are already cooked before the 2024 campaign can even get started. It's on Jones to shut everyone up and he needs to do so soon.
