This is exactly why NY Giants general manager Joe Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll are fired up to have Saquon Barkley back in East Rutherford. With everyone ready to put the contract issues behind them, Barkley is wasting no time reminding everyone why he's one of the best running backs in the game.
Early on during the first day of camp, quarterback Daniel Jones found Barkley in the end zone for a score. However, this wasn't just any regular touchdown. Jones put the ball where only No. 26 could catch it, with Barkley managing to drag his toes in for the impressive TD:
Saquon Barkley is back to posting incredible plays for the Giants
This may not have come during 11-on-11 drills, but that doesn't take away from how great this connection was between Danny Dimes and Barkley. The Pro Bowl RB had Xavier McKinney draped all over him, but he still managed to not only come down with the ball, but also get his toes in.
The throw was right on the money from Jones too, as the QB is also having himself a strong day. In addition to this play with Barkley, Jones has been developing even more chemistry with standout tight end Darren Waller. You've got to love seeing this.
With Barkley in particular, though, it's fantastic news that he's not only impressive on the field, but he's also got a smile on his face as well. The past few months have been a bit of a headache for Barkley and the front office, there's no denying that.
Luckily, Barkley and Schoen were able to come to terms on an adjusted franchise tag, with him set to make up to $11 million this year, with a $2 million signing bonus. Already, Barkley is proving his worth for this team. That's bad news for the rest of the NFL, plus the Cowboys who will try and contain him to start the regular season.
