Saquon Barkley's unreal Eagles debut was the last thing the Giants wanted to see

It's going to take a long time for NY Giants fans to get used to seeing Saquon Barkley don a Philadelphia Eagles uniform. In Week 1, Barkley and his new teammates tripped to Brazil to take on the Green Bay Packers in Sao Paulo. As you might have been able to guess, it didn't take long for Barkley to remind everyone of what he's capable of.

His first carry could not have gone worse, as he slipped for a huge loss, but Barkley ended up posting an 18-yard touchdown reception and then he broke free for an 11-yard rushing score too. So, two TDs in the first half of his first 30 minutes with Big Blue's big-time rival? Of course that's how things went for No. 26:

So, it turns out a solid offensive line turns Barkley back into the Pro Bowler we know he can be. The Giants wanted to bring Barkley back and he stated that he wanted to be a Giant for life. However, the G-Men let him test the market and Philly put way too much money on the table for him to turn down.

We can't blame him for that. What hurts, however, is that Barkley put on a show in his first taste of Eagles action. In the third quarter, the former Giant added his second rushing score of the game and his third total TD for the night. Yup, a hat-trick for him in Game 1 of the new campaign.

We're on record saying that we wish Barkley the best, but we also think we speak for a lot of fans when we say it's a tough pill to swallow seeing him look so strong in a different jersey. Add in the fact that in the Packers-Eagles game Xavier McKinney posted an interception and it just makes things sting a little more.

The Giants moved on from both players this offseason, letting them chase bigger bags elsewhere. So far, they're living up to the hype for their new squads. Barkley made a statement in his season-opener and there's no question NY is going to miss him moving forward.
