What's going to end up happening with NY Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale after this season? Several times over the past month, we've seen plenty of reports surface stating that there's a damaged relationship between Brian Daboll and his DC.

However, plenty of fans aren't ready to give up hope that Wink will be back in 2024. As for Mike Kafka? It seems like there's a much better shot that he'll be the one to be handed his walking papers. However, there's another coordinator that people want to be shown the exit: Thomas McGaughey.

Will Brian Daboll end up firing all 3 of his coordinators this offseason?

Mcgaughey has been running the special teams for Big Blue for quite some time now, but 2023 has felt like rock bottom for him. There have been far too many mistakes from McGaughey's group and folks are quite tired of seeing the poor play each weekend. In his latest mailbag, The Athletic's Dan Duggan made it seems like McGaughey could have one foot out the door.

"Special teams coordinator Thomas McGaughey’s days are numbered. He has spent 10 years with the Giants over two stints, with his current run beginning in 2018. Surviving two coaching changes is an impressive feat, and it speaks to the regard top brass has for him.

But the writing has been on the wall for McGaughey, as his units have been involved in too many disastrous plays this season. McGaughey has drawn interest around the league whenever there’s been coaching turnover with the Giants, but he has preferred to stay in New York. He should land on his feet with another coordinator job elsewhere."

There are going to be a lot of changes for the staff next season, with running backs coach Jeff Nixon on his way out to take over as the new offensive coordinator at Syracuse. The future is quite unclear for Kafka, Martindale, McGaughey and others.

With that said, McGaughey should be at the top of the list of assistants who should be replaced. If there's even a small chance for Daboll and Martindale to get on the same page, Coach Dabes should do whatever is needed to make it happen.
