Just when you thought it was impossible to like this young man more than you already did, he goes on to say something like this. In the preseason win over the Lions, NY Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito was called into action after Drew Lock went down with a hip injury.

Lock is a former second-rounder, while DeVito went undrafted last spring. Against Detroit, though, DeVito was the one who looked much sharper in running the offense. While speaking to the media afterwards too, the New Jersey native known as Tommy Cutlets has countless people even more excited for the win thanks to an incredible statement on where his head's at this preseason:

Tommy DeVito is winning over even more people following a Giants win over Detroit

Last year after DeVito made his debut with the Giants, he said it was a dream come - though it came in a heartbreaking Big Blue loss to the Jets. Now, he's singing a different tune. DeVito knows what it takes to win at this level, as he led NY to a three-game winning streak last fall.

This summer, he's fighting to keep a spot on this team. It's unlikely that the Giants will keep three signal-callers on the roster, so the preseason could prove to be an audition for DeVito for other teams' backup roles. However, the buzz following the preseason opener is that maybe, just maybe DeVito can push Lock to be QB2 in East Rutherford.

A quick look on social media shows that DeVito has a lot of people in his corner. Against the Lions, Lock went 4-of-10 for 17 yards and an interception. There were also a couple of plays where those in the stands were begging for him to throw to Malik Nabers, but the QB somehow didn't look his way.

DeVito finished the contest 8-of-15 for 92 yards. Nothing special, but he looked way more comfortable out there going up against the Lions' backups. We're not saying DeVito will kick Lock out of town, but he proved that he's going to put up quite a fight to try and win that No. 2 job.
