Yeah, Joe Schoen can't sign this dude.

With the NY Giants being in need of a CB2 to play alongside Deonte Banks, some have considered the possibility of former All-Pro Patrick Peterson signing with the team. However, following a podcast with former Giant legend Brandon Jacobs, it seems like the door has been shut on any chances of Peterson coming to New York.

In said episode, Peterson went on a tirade against Daniel Jones, making it very clear he has no intentions of playing with the quarterback. Peterson still remains a free agent and it's a shame he said these things, as he could have been a valuable player for the Giants if the two sides had mutual interest down the line.

An article written by Patricia Traina went over the podcast episode, listing what Peterson said, making it clear he is not a big fan of Jones. Most notably, Peterson critiqued Jones' ability to read a defense, saying the following:

"He’s shown an inability to read defenses quickly, to get the ball out quickly, and I just think he has a problem dissecting the 11 guys on defense... His process is too slow to excel as a great NFL quarterback. He has talent. He has all the measurables. It just not coming together on the football field."

This is a genuine concern and something you don't have to be a Pro Bowl corner to see. Jones has consistently struggled to manage an offense outside of 2022, in which the offense was incredibly simplified and predictable, hence why it didn't work again in '23. Even in his lone good season, Jones still didn't make many impressive plays down the field, another thing Peterson mentioned.

"I had an opportunity to play against Daniel Jones a couple times - ain’t nothing impressive about him to a defense. He’s big and strong, but he hasn’t shown us arm talent, like, crazy arm talent."

It's a little funny to hear Peterson say this, as he didn't play particularly well in the two games he played against Jones while on the Vikings in '22. However, this doesn't mean he is wrong. At age 34, Peterson is still a rather productive player, someone the Giants could really use.

Unfortunately, signing a player who has outwardly negative opinions on your quarterback would be a bad business decision for Joe Schoen. We wish nothing but the best for Peterson, the likely future Hall of Famer has had a hell of a career that will hopefully continue in 2024, just not with the Giants.
