Watch Bobby Okereke passionately back Daniel Jones as QB1 for the NY Giants
Expectations were very high for New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones in 2023. After a great season in 2022, which even saw the Giants win a playoff game, New York gave their former first-round pick a new contract worth $40 million a year. Unfortunately, 2023 was not what the Giants and Jones had in mind, as it was pretty much a disaster.
Jones played in just six games this past season and had only two touchdowns to six interceptions. His season was cut short, as a neck injury and torn ACL saw the Giants quarterback fail to play a full regular season for the fourth time in five years.
Stakes are high for Jones in 2024, especially after the Giants tried and failed to trade up in the NFL Draft to possibly draft his replacement. Despite the rough past year for him, though, not everyone is ready to throw in the towel. The list includes star linebacker Bobby Okereke, who is ready to see what Danny Dimes can do this fall and winter:
Bobby Okereke has full faith in NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones
Okereke, who's entering his second season with the Giants, went on the Up and Adams show to emphatically defend his teammate. We all saw Jones' struggles last season, but Okereke is praising Jones for having so much poise despite all the adversity he's been through since entering the league in 2019.
While injuries and inconsistent play have haunted Jones, the 27-year-old linebacker has faith in Jones and praises him for always being the first one in and last one out of team meetings and workouts. Jones and the Giants know how critical of a season it is this year, especially after the team went 6-11 last campaign. The G-Men took a major step back.
With that said, Okereke is reassuring Giants fans everywhere that Jones still can be a stud for this offense and not just in 2024, but for years to come. Okereke's praise for Jones is something to take note of, as the start of training camp for the Giants is right around the corner. The 'backer knows Jones will be able to turn heads. Soon enough, it will be time for Danny Dimes to deliver.
