The return to the gridiron didn't go according to plan for NY Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. In the first quarter alone of his preseason debut, Jones tossed two interceptions, including an embarrassing pick-six to open up the scoring for the Texans.

It's a throw you never want to see out of a rookie, making it even more excusable for Jones, who is now in Year 6 with Big Blue. Jones was able to bounce back a little bit in the second quarter, but it was going up against mostly backups. Brian Daboll couldn't have loved what he saw out of his QB1 - you could tell his frustration was building too, with him shaking his head a bit and shrugging at Jones' play after a missed throw to Eric Gray late in the second quarter. You can watch Daboll's reaction at this link.

Brian Daboll can't be happy with how Daniel Jones played vs. Houston

Jones' day was over after the first half. He finished his first contest back since tearing his ACL going 11-of-18 for 138 yards, two interceptions and no touchdowns. Jones connected on a deep ball with Darius Slayton that nearly went for a TD, but No. 86 was stopped at the one. Devin Singletary then took the ball in for his first Big Blue score.

As for Jones, fans can only hope he was just shaking off some rust in this one, but there was a lot to be disappointed in. Obviously, his pick-six was downright brutal and it should never happen again. The QB has to know better than to make throws like this:

Daboll is 100 percent going to talk to his QB about this decision. Jones avoided the safety, but he still tried to hit Theo Johnson instead of just letting the ball fly out of bounds. Daboll was livid with Jones after his pick-six against the Seahawks last season and while he didn't reach that level in preseason Week 2, you better believe he's going to let his starter know he has to be better.
