The New York Giants are locked in with the No. 6 overall pick in the NFL Draft and the speculation has already arrived with who general manager Joe Schoen will be going with. Could a new quarterback of the future be on the way? Who knows.
The belief is that Daniel Jones will be the Week 1 starter in 2024, but the door is open for Schoen to bring in a new signal-caller either in the first or second round. Danny Dimes was asked about things on Monday morning, but he's not worried about that. Jones was all smiles when asked about a QB potentially being brought in. Plain and simple, Jones is focused on still being a stud for this team:
Daniel Jones could care less about buzz the Giants might draft his replacement
"I'm confident in myself. I'm confident in my abilities."Daniel Jones
Jones couldn't help but laugh when asked the question, but this is surely going to be a major topic of conversation leading up to the first round of the draft. The expectation is that both Drake Maye and Caleb Williams will be off the board early on.
However, new reports suggest that the Chicago Bears will move forward with Justin Fields as their starting quarterback and they'll look to trade the No. 1 overall pick. It won't come cheap, but a team moving up to No. 1 will have the chance to grab either Williams or Maye.
If the Giants stand pat at No. 6, Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels will likely be available, but Penn State offensive tackle Olu Fashanu would make a ton of sense for the G-Men at that spot too to replace struggling right tackle Evan Neal. Everything is on the table for the Giants in the first round, but Jones clearly isn't worried about someone coming in to try and steal his job.
