On defense, one of the few bright spots for the NY Giants has no question been the strong play of nose tackle Dexter Lawrence. Once again, Lawrence is looking like one of the best, if not the best, in the game. However, as strong as Lawrence has been, the G-Men are 0-2 on the year and the morale isn't high at all.
Lawrence is not happy - matter of fact, he admitted that he's pissed with the way the season has started for him and his teammates. Can you blame the DT for feeling this way? Not at all. New York entered the campaign with the hopes of starting off 2-0 vs. Minnesota and Washington. Instead, they're winless heading into a tough road showdown with Cleveland:
Dexter Lawrence is not happy how the season is going for the NY Giants
"Well, personally, I'm pissed because I hate losing with a passion, so I take that hard - losing. I really don't like it. For me it's just something that I'm not going to keep accepting. I want to see this team grow and be as good as we are throughout the week in practice. It's just that one day - that Sunday or that Thursday or that whatever. You gotta show up. "Dexter Lawrence
Those are passionate words. Lawrence is an All-Pro talent and on an individual level, he's a Super Bowl-type of playmaker. However, the rest of the guys around him aren't getting the job done. Lawrence isn't saying that, but we're doing so for him.
The Giants had a great opportunity to post a win in Week 2, but they choked things away against the Commanders at Northwest Stadium. Small mistakes have haunted this team in the past and that was exactly the case in their first NFC East contest of the year.
With the brutal start being posted, some fans are worried that maybe a win won't be on the way until the Giants take on the Panthers in Germany. That'd be a disaster, but Lawrence and Co. are going to do everything possible to get in the win column as soon as possible. There's a great test on the way vs. the Browns and Sexy Dexy is going to be ready to live in the backfield to make life rough for Deshaun Watson.
