When does Saquon Barkley return to MetLife Stadium to play the NY Giants in 2024?
The countdown for October is already on for countless NY Giants fans. One of the main takeaways from this offseason was that former fan-favorite running back Saquon Barkley has left town to sign a $37.75 million contract with the Eagles.
You just had to join the enemy, Saquon? This season, Barkley will take on his former team twice, with Kayvon Thibodeaux and Brian Burns ready to make his life a nightmare for those tilts. Big Blue supporters are also going to let Barkley have it when he returns to East Rutherford. So, when will that happen?
Saquon Barkley will make his return to MetLife Stadium come Week 7
Thanks to the official NFL schedule release, we know that Barkley and the Eagles will be taking on the G-Men at MetLife Stadium on Oct. 20. It's a 1 p.m. ET kickoff for this showdown and something tells us the stands are going to be LOUD throughout.
While Barkley meant so much to the Giants during his six seasons with the organization, the former No. 2 overall pick didn't get the money he wanted from general manager Joe Schoen and decided to see what was out there in free agency. The Ravens, Texans and others reportedly showed interest, but Barkley decided to return to his home state to play for the Eagles.
We get it, Barkley sees the Eagles as a great opportunity to win a Super Bowl and he's being paid like one of the best running backs in the league as well. We're not going to hate on the guy for landing this kind of dough and joining an NFC powerhouse.
The big issue is that, again, it's the dang Eagles. People would have felt the same if we would have joined Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys. Barkley getting into it with Giants fans on social media not long ago isn't helping anything either. Come Oct. 20, Barkley will surely have revenge on his mind, but the same can be said for the G-Men. He may want to cover his ears when he runs out of the MetLife tunnel too.
