When will NY Giants GM Joe Schoen speak at the 2024 NFL Combine?
It's hard to believe, but the NFL Combine is right around the corner. Countless prospects will be ready to turn heads, but general managers and coaches will also be on hand ready to talk to the media. The list includes NY Giants GM Joe Schoen.
This is going to be a massive offseason for Schoen and he's sure to be asked about Saquon Barkley, Xavier McKinney, Daniel Jones and others in Indianapolis. With that said, if you can't wait to hear from the third-year GM, we've got good news for you: Schoen will be speaking soon enough.
Joe Schoen will surely discuss Saquon Barkley and Xavier McKinney at the NFL Combine
It has been announced that Schoen will meet with the press at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning. There will be a boatload of important questions on the way for him. To start, Schoen previously said he'll be meeting with Barkley's reps at the Combine.
With new reports stating Barkley isn't expected to get tagged, it will put extra pressure on Saquon and the G-Men to meet in the middle on a new deal. If they can't, then No. 26 will be free to walk in free agency. The same can be said for McKinney, but Paul Schwartz is reporting the team could end up using the transition tag on him.
As for Jones, Schoen has said that he's planning to stick with Danny Dimes as his Week 1 starter for 2024. However, plenty of mock drafts have the Giants either trading up to land a new QB1 of the future, with some even having Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels falling to No. 6 overall.
The idea of Schoen and Brian Daboll going with 'their guy' at quarterback could be appealing, but would Schoen really be ready to move on from Jones a year after giving him a $160 million extension? It's hard to say, but we should have more clarity on things after hearing Schoen talk on Tuesday morning.
