Skip Bayless delivered an all-time bad take on Dexter Lawrence’s trade request

Skip Bayless' latest take on Dexter Lawrence is one more reason for Giants fans to ignore him.

Just when you thought things were heading in the right direction for the New York Giants, it was reported last week that All-Pro nose tackle Dexter Lawrence II requested a trade, leaving many Big Blue fans surprised and concerned that they would be losing a fan favorite.

It’s clear that this could just be a wake-up call from Sexy Dexy to John Harbaugh, Joe Schoen, and the Giants organization to get an extension done. He has wanted this for quite some time, and it could be a significant reason he had a down year last season.

Skip Bayless' trade value for Dexter Lawrence couldn't be more unsexy if he tried

Skip Bayless of Underdog’s The Arena: Gridiron recently covered the report that Lawrence requested a trade from the Giants out of New York. Bayless did not hold back, stating, “I don’t think he has great leverage now. I don’t think he has great bargaining power.”

Bayless then went on to admit that he sees the NFC East through a Cowboys lens, which isn’t a shock to anyone, and even though Lawrence is a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time second-team All-Pro, he’s never scared him as a Dallas fan. Bayless has never hidden his bias towards the Cowboys, and he has had absolutely horrendous takes on their defense.

It’s worth mentioning that Big Dex has recorded 21 solo tackles and 23 assists over 14 career games against Dallas, which may not be the most impressive stats, but it’s not like he’s radio silent whenever he plays the Cowboys.

"Once upon a time, they could've gotten a first-round pick for him; now I don't think they can get more than maybe a third,” Bayless said.

While Lawrence is coming off a down year compared to previous seasons, Bayless's comments are viewed as an overreaction. Remember, Skip's Cowboys traded a 2026 first-round pick, a 2027 second-round pick, and defensive tackle Mazi Smith to the Jets for Quinnen Williams last year, so that logic does not add up.

It's worth noting that Lawrence had nine sacks just two seasons ago. Finding a replacement via the draft or free agency will not be easy, as he is one of one, but if the Giants were to trade him, I think they would be able to get more than a third, so mark that down as yet another horrible take from Skip.

Let’s hope that the G-Men don’t even go down that route of trading him and extend Sexy Dexy. Pay the man what he wants and truly deserves, and make him a Giant for life.
