Now that John Harbaugh is taking over, the New York Giants are entering a pivotal offseason. So far, most of the offseason has been headlined by Ravens' reunions throughout the coaching staff, but once the new league year kicks off, Harbaugh will start to make some major changes to this roster.
Wan'Dale Robinson and Jermaine Eluemenor are the major potential losses in free agency, but several Giants fans are holding out hope that the 63-year-old can lure Tyler Linderbaum to New York. However, they should be worrying about the nightmare of Joe Schoen potentially trading star DT Dexter Lawrence II.
Bleacher Report's Alex Ballentine penciled in Lawrence as a top trade target for the Indianapolis Colts, who have no issues trading prime draft capital for superstar talent. They dealt two first-rounders to the Jets for Sauce Garder, so hopefully Sexy Dexy could net a similar return for Big Blue while saving the team some money.
Bleacher Report writer expects the Colts to make a run at Dexter Lawrence this offseason
The 28-year-old has been named to the Pro Bowl in three of the last four seasons and is the beating heart of this Giants' defense. However, he logged just one-half sack all season, which marked a career-low and was benched by Shane Bowen during a crucial drive against the Lions in overtime.
Despite a rough year numbers-wise, that doesn't tell the whole picture. According to Pro Football Focus, Lawrence's 75.9 PFF grade ranked ninth out of 134 qualified defensive tackles, while his 84.5 pass rush grade ranked seventh, which is more in line with the player Giants fans know and love.
The duo of Abdul Carter and Brian Burns are the future of this New York defense, but having a guy like the Clemson product plugging the middle makes their jobs way easier. The Giants' defensive line should have been virtually unguardable this season, but poor play-calling set the unit back drastically.
As far as the Colts go, this fit would be interesting. Lou Anarumo's defense already has stars like DeForest Buckner and Laiatu Latu up front, but they ranked third-to-last in passing yards allowed per game in 2025. The addition of Gardner was supposed to change things, which has yet to take shape.
The one problem with trading Dexy is that the Colts don't have another first-round pick of their own until 2028, and for a Giants team that is hoping to compete after hiring a Super Bowl-winning head coach, the best course of action would be to keep their star defensive lineman, so this is unlikely.
