The world works better when obvious things stay obvious. Fire is hot. Grocery stores will run out of milk and bread when there's a severe storm coming. Jaxson Dart is the New York Giants' savior. These are all obvious things.
Another obvious thing? Big Blue star left tackle Andrew Thomas deserved Pro Bowl recognition for his incredible 2025 season. He didn't, but Shedeur Sanders did... which clearly indicates there's something very wrong with the system. And while the two aren’t directly connected, Bill Belichick’s first-ballot Hall of Fame snub really makes you wonder what’s going on with our voting processes.
Thomas' ludicrous snub was met with instant confusion -- Jermaine Eluemunor unsurprisingly went to bat for his fellow lineman on social media, tweeting: "No hate but the Pro Bowl a joke lol. AT Top LT in the NFL hasn’t made one yet but if you’re popular you get in. Laughable at this point." He couldn't be more right.
If you want to dock him for missing four games due to injury, that's your prerogative, but when he was on the field, he was arguably the best lineman in the league, making this latest snub even worse.
Even Andrew Thomas knows you can't spell "potty" without "POTY"
Just when you thought Thomas had gone through enough, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler added insult to injury on Wednesday, revealing the five finalists for the league's newest 'Protector of the Year' award, with the star lineman once again omitted from the group:
The nominees for the NFL's first Protector of the Year award, via league sources:
— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) January 29, 2026
Broncos OT Garett Bolles
Dolphins C Aaron Brewer
Chiefs C Creed Humphrey
Broncos OG Quinn Meinerz
Bears OG Joe Thuney
Lions OT Penei Sewell
For too long, the NFL has ignored the big guys up front. Their hard work has gone largely unnoticed, especially when it comes to hardware, but that ends now. The POTY award, championed by Buffalo Bills offensive tackle Dion Dawkins, was created to recognize the league’s top offensive lineman. In short, it goes to the best big man of the year.
So...
Maybe Fowler ran out of characters on his post? **Double checks his social media feed** Nope. He didn't. Just like he ridiculously missed out on the Pro Bowl, the 27-year-old wasn't even a nominee, which is so objectively wrong that it borders on comedy.
Advanced analytics don't tell the whole story, but if they did, the 2020 fourth-overall pick would be in the Pro Bowl and a Protector candidate. His 90.3 overall grade ranked fourth among all tackles, while contender Garett Bolles is out here ranking fifth with a measley 89.3 grade.
Make it make sense. How on earth is Thomas this disrespected year-in and year-out? If anything, by calling out the unjustness of it all, maybe I just become the Protector of the Protector of the Year Award and make sure Thomas gets the recognition he deserves. The least I can do is try.
