The New York Giants have a huge test in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL Season, but one player on the team could really flip the week on its head. It's an unfortunate fact that the G-Men have the hardest schedule in the NFL this year.

And with the team not really having a top-notch roster, they could struggle to even come up with five wins, but there is always a team that the NFL world is too low on, and that could be New York this year.

A great way to get the season started is to play spoiler and upset the Washington Commanders, a contending team in their division. Week 1 can also bring some wild results, so the Giants might be in a perfect position to pull off a major upset, and this player on the G-Men could help lead that.

Russell Wilson could help the Giants to an upset win over the Commanders

One of the Commanders' primary weak spots on the roster is the secondary, as they are projected to start a secondary of Marshon Lattimore, Trey Amos, Mike Sainristil, Will Harris, and Quan Martin. It's just not a super strong unit on paper, and with the Giants starting Russell Wilson under center, the game plan should absolutely be to push the ball downfield, especially with Malik Nabers.

If nothing else, Wilson still has the 'moon ball' in his arsenal, and Nabers himself should have no issue getting past the Commanders' secondary, so an easy scenario to see here is the Giants eating up some yardage with key chunk plays down the field.

Now yes, New York's offensive line would have to hold up, but Russell Wilson can still be mobile when needed, and it's not like he's been downright inefficient over the past couple of seasons. The veteran QB is absolutely not the answer for the Giants beyond 2025, but exposing the weaker Washington secondary is an easy path to victory.

And to add a cherry on top, the Giants' fierce defensive line could get after Commanders' QB Jayden Daniels early an often, doing just enough to keep their offense from putting up a ton of points.
