This Jaxson Dart–Cam Skattebo play gave Giants fans all the hope they needed

The New York Giants are trying to build their future foundation, and they added some big pieces in this year's NFL Draft. There was the Adbul Carter selection gave them a once in a generation pass rusher. Then, they traded up into the first round again to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart. In the fourth round, they added a tough as nails, dual-threat running back in Cam Skattebo.

After an abysmal season-opening game against the Washington Commanders, the Giants were calling for Dart to start. But the team still had belief in Russell Wilson, and their belief in him paid off with a huge game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Even though wilson had a big game, head coach Brian Daboll stuck with his plan of implementing package plays for Dart to throw off the opposing defense. Sure enough, that's what he did in the second half, as Dart came in for a snap. The play was a hand-off to Skattebo, and it turned into a huge 24-yard gain to set the Giants up at Dallas' own one-yard line.

Yes, it was a hand-off rush up the middle, but look at what can happen! Skattebo was always an exciting running back prospect due in part to his play at Arizona State, with plays similar to this 24-yard rush.

One play later, Wilson entered the game again, and handed it off to Skattebo, who reached the end zone to give the Giants a 23-20 lead.

These are images that Giants fans want to see. while Dart didn't attempt any passes, the expectation is that he will sling it like he did during the preseason. But for Skattebo, his hard-running ability is something that will win over Giants fans. After all, he did earn Kyle Brandt's "Angry Run of Week 1." Maybe he'll get to keep the award for another week.

What a week for the Giants rookies. Dart saw his first playing time, and Skattebo scored his first touchdown.
