This Giants star is already in the MVP race (and fans saw it coming)

It's a long shot, but this player has the talent to land the ultimate recognition.

When the New York Giants' offseason started, there were a lot of questions to be answered. Will Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen still be in charge? What are they going to do at quarterback? Who are they going to draft? Will Giants fans have to endure another year of misery?

Well, with training camp now about a month away, a lot of these questions have been answered, and one thing is clear: the young guys will be the cornerstone of this team. Nothing makes that message more evident than Pro Football Network listing second-year wide receiver Malik Nabers as the team's MVP candidate.

Honestly, this should come as no surprise. Nabers is the straw that stirs the drink on offense. Nabers had 100+ receptions, 1200+ yards, and seven touchdowns. All of this while missing two games and having the likes of Daniel Jones, Drew Locke, and Tommy DeVito throw him the ball.

The current quarterback room for the Giants aren't exactly world beaters, but they are much more competent than the three stooges that laced them up under center for the team last year.

So, with some actual talent at quarterback (and assuming Nabers can stay healthy), imagine the numbers the young receiver can put up in his sophomore season.

There's a world where the Giants MVP candidate would have been DT Dexter Lawrence, and no one would bat an eye at that. Lawrence is not only the best all-around player on the Giants, but he's one of, if not the best, at his position in the entire league.

But, with how good the defense is projected to be, Lawrence may not have to lift quite as heavy a load as he has in previous seasons. Adding in Abdul Carter, Kayvon Thibodeaux playing for a contract, and Brian Burns with a year of organizational experience under his belt, takes a lot of weight off Lawrence’s shoulders.

Nabers is a different story. The Giants have done a solid job retooling the offense, but Nabers is THE guy on that side of the ball. As he goes, the offense will go. Hopefully, that means Nabers is building off his rookie season success, and the rest of the team follows suit.

Will Nabers win MVP? Probably not, but if anyone from the Giants were to win the award, it'd be No. 1.
