The NY Giants once again find themselves on par with their crosstown rivals at 2-6. While the Giants normally lose in a boring, milquetoast way than the Jets do, Daniel Jones and the rest of the squad picked up some comical ineptitude from their stadium mates in Florham Park on Monday Night Football against the Pittsburgh Steelers

In an ill-fated two-point conversion attempt, Jones tried to pull off a swinging gate screen pass to wide receiver Malik Nabers. This play blew up immediately, as none of the offensive linemen were paying attention.

This led to Steelers pass rusher Alex Highsmith flying into the backfield and blowing the play up. The overall effort was so pathetic that even the announcers were getting a handful of shots in at the Giants.

Troy Aikman, who made a living beating up on the Giants in the 1990s, couldn't help but contain his laughter at the situation, comparing it to that famous botched Colts fake punt against the Patriots. Plays like this show that the Giants, as currently constructed are going nowhere fast.

Troy Aikman laughing at Giants' 2-point conversion is new low

The entire Giants offensive line, including bust first-rounder Evan Neal, didn't know the snap count. As a result, Highsmith was able to fly into the backfield. Even the mild-mannered Jones was irate at the lack of attention to detail shown by New York in what became one of the defining plays of the game.

While playing on the road in Pittsburgh is a very tough environment, especially when facing a very talented Steelers defense, that doesn't excuse a lack of attention to detail on that egregious level. The Giants still had a chance to come back and hand the Steelers a loss, but Jones once again struggled in crunch time.

Jones, who is now an absurd 1-15 in primetime games, went 24-38 for 264 yards, but mixed in a horrendous interception. Jones has just 44 touchdown passes and 33 interceptions since his rookie year way back in 2018, and he has tossed just eight touchdowns against 11 interceptions since signing his huge extension.

The Giants are destined for another season down in the dumps, all while Jones has continued to struggle. With announcers literally laughing at them, it's painfully obvious that the Giants need to press the reset button and rid this roster of some of the dead weight from the past few years.
