The New York Giants don’t exactly have a lot of size in their wide receiver room, which is probably why they gave Lil’Jordan Humphrey a one-year deal earlier this offseason. But a few practices into training camp, that spot might already be in jeopardy.

Beaux Collins has started to make some noise in East Rutherford. The undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame has strung together a solid first week, highlighted by a clean crossing route from Tommy DeVito that popped off the tape during Friday’s practice.

The pads aren’t even on yet, and he’s already done more to stand out than anyone could have expected. While routinely slept on and discredited, this WR room is actually pretty deep, so good press heading Collins' way is not nothing.
At 6-foot-3 and 206 pounds, Collins brings a similar physical profile to Humphrey (6-foot-4, 225 pounds) — minus the six years of mileage and inconsistent and unimpressive tape. The difference is that Collins probably still has room to grow.
Beaux Collins is turning heads and that might be bad news for Lil’Jordan Humphrey
Big Blue's decision to sign Humphrey back in March was more about camp insurance than any sort of long-term play. They needed a big body, a functional blocker, and someone who could potentially find a role on special teams... although that's likely a reach.
So far, Collins is checking enough of those boxes to warrant a conversation.
Collins’ size and catch radius have stood out early in camp. He’s handling contact well, separating just enough, and finishing plays against tight coverage. His route tree is still limited, but it’s effective. He’s winning in ways that actually matter for a player already hanging on by a thread to stay in the roster bubble conversation

Collins still has to show he can handle live reps once the hitting starts. But he’s been right in the mix with fellow UDFAs Jordan Bly, Da'Quan Felton, and Dalen Cambre for that WR6 slot, but unlike Humphrey, his roster spot would have a more long-term feel to it.
The G-Men just don’t have a lot of size behind Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Wan'Dale Robinson. They brought in Humphrey for that exact reason, but if Collins continues to impress on the field, they may not need the fallback plan anymore.
It’s still very early. But if Collins keeps the spotlight on himself, Humphrey might end up the odd man out. It’d be quite the quick turnaround for the 27-year-old. Hopefully, he hasn’t fully unpacked yet.
