As you might have been able to guess, the passionate NY Giants fans in the stands are letting Saquon Barkley have it at MetLife Stadium. Leading up to the action, people in the parking lot were burning his old Giants jersey, while countless fans were blasting him on social media.
It's sad to see, as Barkley used to mean so much to the organization, but he chose to join the enemy during free agency. Thanks to Justin Penik of Talkin' Giants, we got a close look at just how angry people were when he took the field: they didn't hold back. Yup, boos rained down onto the field for No. 26:
NY Giants fans let Saquon Barkley have it in his return to MetLife Stadium
No surprise there. From the second Barkley decided to put the pen to paper with a division rival, he had to know that it was going to make him pretty dang hated in New Jersey. He reportedly had interest from the Ravens, Texans and others.
Had he joined anyone else - outside of the NFC East - nothing like this would happen. Now, though, just about everyone at MetLife Stadium is going above and beyond to try and make the day a nightmare for the former first-round pick.
It's a shame things had to go down this way for Barkley, as he was once a fan favorite. Remember when he helped power the Giants to the playoffs in 2022? What about his unreal rookie season with the team too? Fast forward to present time and no one in East Rutherford wants to see him do well. Barkley scored the opening TD vs. the Giants too, which somehow made things worse.
In the end, Barkley's six years with the Giants had ups and downs, but now that he's with the Eagles, he's just another guy in the visiting locker room. For the rest of his time in Philly, NY supporters won't stop in letting the boo birds be sent in his direction.
