The NFL Week 2 Power Rankings have been released, and the New York Giants are on the upswing. According to NFL.com, the Giants have moved up four spots from a week ago, checking in at number 15 after defeating the Cowboys. Dallas finds themselves down a spot, falling to number 19.

"Eli Manning didn’t fare so well in Dallas most of the afternoon, but as has so often been the case in his 13-year career (can you believe he’s been in the league that long?), he completed several clutch passes to deliver a win late at JerryWorld. So different than what came about in last year’s opener … which was also against the Cowboys and also on the road. Unlike last year: No floaters to the cheap seats when burning clock was slightly pertinent. No miscommunication with Rashad Jennings. Nope, simply fourth-quarter football, with Victor Cruz topping it with salsa.– NFL.com"

First-year head coach Ben McAdoo is off to good start. Big Blue’s win at Dallas was their first season-opening victory since 2010 when they defeated the Carolina Panthers. That goes a long way after an off-season that saw uncertainty on the offensive line, and a defensive overhaul. With so much change, it was important for the Giants to begin their year with a win.

More Rankings

The Giants covered even more ground on other legitimate lists. According to Fox, the G-Men rank number 13 while, Yahoo! has them at number 11. ESPN’s list has the Giants 16th, up one from their preseason rank.

Fox media personality Colin Cowherd, of The Herd, took it a step further. Not only does he see New York as a sleeper, but he lists the Giants in his top 10.

He’s also got the Vikings up there, but glass half full. The Giants will look to continue their winning ways this Sunday, when they host Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints in their home-opener.
