New York Giants: 2014 Predictions

The Giants are a team that is hard to predict, not that any NFL team is easy to predict, but this team is installing a new offense and there are plenty of question marks all over the place.

If the Giants win against the Lions on Monday Night Football on Sept 8th, I could see them getting the confidence they need to have a productive season. At the same time, a loss on prime time could deflate the ego’s of this 5-0 preseason team. The Giants need to avoid an early negative domino effect at all costs. With that being said, here are two Giants season predictions — one with the Giants losing next week and one with the team winning.

Win at Detroit: 11-5
Loss against the Lions: 7-9

Last season the Giants started out 0-6, and they learned the hard way that ‘too little late too late’ is very real in the National Football League. They went on a semi-late run to record seven victories in nine weeks, and ultimately finished with a 7-9 mark; coincidentally, the same record they ended the season with: 7-9.

To be blunt, honest, and frank, but not necessarily in that order… the Giants need/have-to/MUST win early. They start out playing the Lions, Cardinals, Texans and the Redskins, all winnable football games that the G-Men can’t afford to lose.

After those games, the Giants play the Falcons, followed by two more division games against the Eagles, then the Cowboys, before finally hitting the Colts, Seahawks and 49ers. All tough games for the New York Football Giants, but really every NFL game is a tough game.

The reality is that the brutal NFL season doesn’t care about the Giants new offensive scheme. It’s not going to stop because OBJ can’t stay healthy or because vital players like

Jon Beason

missed valuable time during training camp and preseason. No, no, no. The NFL season will roll on no matter what.

And it all starts next Monday. Don’t make the mistake of overlooking the revenge seeking Detroit Lions, Big Blue. This game is your season and it’s a can’t lose/MUST WIN situation.
