Rueben Randle fantasy football value has been disappointing many fantasy owners so far this season. Many expected him to finally break out this season after showing flashes of potential last year but has been rather inconsistent. This has reduced his fantasy value from a low-end number one receiver to barely holding value as a number three fantasy receiver. Since his rookie year, Randle has had a hard time developing a connection with Eli Manning which has led to many missed opportunities to have big games and seal victories.
This year has been no different for Randle much to the dismay of his fantasy owners as week after week Randle constantly runs the wrong routes and is quickly turning into a much less agile Mario Manningham who also was a poor route runner. They are similar in that both constantly had miscues with Manning. At least Manningham found ways to be productive from time to time whereas Randle can become invisible especially when he drops passes.

To Randle’s credit, the Giants as a whole have been inconsistent on offense with their offensive line being one of the worst in the NFL. Manning has been under duress for the majority of games which has limited the explosive potential of the Giants offense.
Many felt that losing Victor Cruz for the season would boost Randle’s fantasy value with hopes of him being the team’s top receiver, but he has been overshadowed by the emergence of the dynamic rookie Odell Beckham Jr. who happens to be a fine fantasy option. Most owners prefer Beckham over Randle due to his upside and explosiveness to make big plays when needed.
So far this season Randle has only totaled 50 receptions for only 521 yards receiving with a mere two touchdowns which was not what fantasy owners were expecting from the third year receiver who came from the same school as Beckham (LSU). At this point it’s time to accept the fact that Randle is what he is and will not be much more unless the Giants offensive line magically repairs itself.
Fantasy owners could do much better than Randle as a number three receiver this week and should not be in anyone’s starting lineup unless you’re desperate for a flex option. Don’t be fooled by Randle’s season high 112-yard performance last week versus the San Francisco 49ers because most of his yards came from a basic deep pattern that for some reason, the 49ers had no answer for.
It is unlikely he will repeat that this week versus the Dallas Cowboys. Last time Randle went up against Dallas this season back in Week 7, Randle finished with six catches for 74 yards and no touchdowns. Overall, it’s in the best interest of fantasy owners everywhere to stay away!
