1. Damontre Moore Vs. Owa Odighizuwa
Position: Defensive End
This will be by far the best training camp battle in the Giants’ offseason. The defensive line is something the organization takes very seriously. The Giants have a long and proud history of defensive players. So Damontre Moore battling Owamagbe Odighizuwa is going to be something to remember.
Moore has been on the Giants’ roster for two years and proved that he can contribute. He has had moments of brilliance on special teams and was highly praised by the team. The only issue is whenever he got his chance to play on the field, he showed signs of struggling on the defensive line.
Everyone starts over now that Steve Spagnuolo is the new defensive coordinator. When it comes to creating a pass rush, he’s the right man for the job. Odighizuwa was a third round draft pick that is considered by some to be the biggest steal of the draft. If it was not for his injury history, he would have been a high second round pick without a doubt.
Both have high expectations and both are highly praised. Spagnuolo is going to do anything he can to create as fearsome as a pass rush as possible. Odighizuma could be the sleeper the Giants need oh so desperately. Spagnuolo is trying to recreate a Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan pas rush. Having a healthy competition wouldn’t hurt that at all.
