According to a report from NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus, Odell Beckham Jr. will likely be sidelined for precautionary reasons as he hurt his hamstring. It’s news, we have to tell you about it but it sounds worse than it is. Beckham Jr. is nagged by a hamstring injury this offseason, much like he was last year as he missed the beginning quarter of the season. While this is the first sign of the “Madden Curse” rearing its ugly head, no panic is required here for New York Giants fans.
If the Giants felt like anything could be gained by having Beckham Jr. participate in organized team activities, there may be a different time table for his return to action. The simple truth is that there is no reason to risk further injury at this point in the offseason.

Beckham Jr. was a rookie last year. He missed training camp and he missed the first four games of the season last year. It didn’t seem to matter. Beckham Jr. put on a show with 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns. It’s not like this is a second year player who desperately needs the reps to grow as a football player. Beckham Jr. is well ahead of his years.
While there is always reason for concern when one of your best players is injured, there is no need for panic here. Beckham Jr. will be ready for training camp, he will be ready for the season and there is nothing to indicate otherwise.
We will certainly keep our eyes on this story as we approach training camp. The Giants are a team that has had some really bad luck go their way on the injury front. They cannot afford to lose Beckham Jr. for any part of the season. That is why caution is the right thing as we move forward.
