New York Giants: 5 Players Who Need Strong Training Camp
Dec 30, 2014; Santa Clara, CA, USA; Maryland Terrapins linebacker Cole Farrand (47) tackles Stanford Cardinal quarterback Kevin Hogan (8) at the goal line during the first quarter of the Foster Farms Bowl at Levi
1. Cole Farrand:
Cole Farrand may not have an elite level of athletic ability but he is a tackling machine. There isn’t going to be a higher motor in the Giants training camp than that of Farrand’s. Farrand is a high effort guy who is looking to go from undrafted free agent to key cog on an NFL team. Farrand will have to play excellent on special teams to show that he can play at the NFL level.
One game last season, Farrand had 19 tackles. The year prior Farrand had a game in which he made 23 tackles. I wasn’t kidding when I told you that Farrand is a tackling machine. Farrand has a high football IQ, he does his job at the interior linebacker position.
Other players to keep your eyes on include, Jerome Cunningham, Bobby Hart and Mykkelle Thompson. One thing is for sure, I cannot wait for the start of training camp. These players are certainly worth keeping an eye on during training camp and the preseason. They need to step up to earn roles on the active roster this September.
