New York Giants Are Playoff Bound Reason 3

I’m not saying that the Giants are a definitive playoff team. What I am saying is that there are 10 reasons why they will have a chance to make the postseason this season. The first reason I gave the Giants a shot is that they have a prolific quarterback in Eli Manning. The second reason they have a chance was that they have the best group of offensive weapons in football. Today we focus on the defense, yes the defense as a reason they will make the postseason.

The New York Giants are not going to be great on the defensive side, but they will do certain things wonderfully. The defense will get after the passer and it will cause turnovers. With defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo calling the shots and a bevy of pass rushers East Rutherford New Jersey could be the epicenter of the NFL’s sacks.

The Giants will get the most out of Jason Pierre-Paul, who is still hungry for a long-term contract from the team. Spagnuolo is not only a master motivator but a players coach. He will connect with Pierre-Paul and put him in the best case scenarios for success.

Pierre-Paul isn’t alone in the pursuit of the quarterback. The Giants are expecting big things from Damontre Moore, Owamagbe Odighizuwa and Robert Ayers. George Selvie also plays into the equation. The Giants are stacked at the defensive end position and don’t be surprised if Jonathan Hankins gets involved in pass rushing as a defensive tackle.

The Giants will have an opportunistic secondary. Prince Amukamara will show that he is one of the game’s best cornerbacks. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is no slouch. I am expecting big things from Landon Collins and Nat Berhe in the back-end of  the Giants defense.

So the Giants have talent on the defensive side as well. They won’t be dominant but they will be good at getting to the quarterback and getting the pivotal turnovers that help win football games. Because of that they have a shot at getting to the postseason.
